family

my family (brothers and sis-in-law) was in town (from utah) over the weekend, so we all got together at our place and had dinner and hung out. it was so fun to have my whole family in the same room...it doesn't happen much anymore and i miss them! they had fun with stone, and it sounds like they might all make it up again for stones birthday!
my three handsome brothers hanging out while stone has his bath
my wonderful mom and beautiful sis-in-law bethany
chilling with daddy

riding the rides at leos..he wasn't sure what to think at first...but he ended up liking them
after a busy weekend stone was worn out and couldn't keep his eyes open through wal-mart...so he took a nap in the cart.

in other news...stone will be one in less than two weeks (and then i'll be turning 26)! where did the time go?

playing with grandma
taking a ride in the new washer
don't worry...i didn't close the lid or anything..but we did sit him in there and spun him slowly...he thought it was fun.

~fun weekend~

we had a super fun weekend...and get this...i didn't even cry when my mom pulled out of our driveway with stone! yay me! i did call and check on him at least 4 times that day, and i missed him like crazy, but it was really nice to get away for a night.
when we got to utah we headed to the gateway mall to kill some time before dinner. the only thing we bought was...chocolate from the rocky mountain chocolate company (and we ate it before dinner). then we headed over to benihana for dinner. i think josh and i were the only ones that liked it....but i'm so glad we ate there.....yum!
then it was over to the arena for the jazz game. we were up in the nosebleeds, but it was a great game (we won by like 20 and d will had 35 points!) and we all had fun. the next morning josh and amanda and i got up and went to the hospital to visit grandpa fife (he was lifeflighted to slc about a month ago with a severe case of spinal menigitis). he seemed to be doing really well. we stayed for some of his physical therapy to be his cheeleaders, and he did super good! it was nice to see him in such good spirits.

after that we headed home to see this chubby guy and i couldn't wait to get to him. he had a blast at grandmas house, but seemed pretty happy to see me and josh.

on the way home from my moms house we stopped by our lot to take a picture because digging is supposed to happen this week (i'll believe it when it happens)!i know it doesn't look like much now...but in about 4 months we will be looking at the front of our new house! can't wait!
last but not least...we got stones pictures back and they are sooo cute! these are just a few of my faves
had to have a shot with a pearl jam shirt and a guitar case
wish stone was looking in this one...but oh wellthere are plenty more that i love (kacie is fantastic)...but i'm sure you are all bored now. that was our weekend, and now we start another week.

gravity

this weekend we went to "gravity" presented by TDC (the dance collaborative), and it was FANTASTIC! this beautiful lady

is my sister-in-law and she is one of the directors of TDC (go here for the TDC blog). she put this whole performance together including choreographing about half of the dances, dancing in a lot of the pieces, putting costumes together, and picking out the perfect music. she did a fantastic job and we really enjoyed the performance. even stone loved it. he sat in my lap the whole time and stared at the dancers and the lights....it was so cute! we are so proud of amanda and we are so excited for the next performance!

busy....but the good kind

so we had a fairly busy weekend. we had dinners with families, home repairs and improvments (which included painting some of the babys room, and hanging new curtains that my mom in law made...i'll post pictures later cuz they look really cute in our bedroom), grocery shopping, and the most exciting part was that josh took me to harry potter! i'm not a raving fan by any means but i was super excited to see this one. i don't wanna say too much in case some haven't seen it yet, but it was pretty good. i have to admit that i was a little dissapointed at some things....but also pleasantly suprised at others. i think i'll like it more when i see it again (yes i plan on seeing it more than once), but it really was pretty good...the effects were great...the acting was fantastic...and the humor in it was fun. all in all...i give it an A-.
before we went to the movie...we were sitting at home and the baby started to move more than ever...and josh saw it for the first time. he was moving like crazy and we were loving it! josh kept saying that stone wants out and it looked like he was gonna bust right out of my skin at some points. it was fun...i love that part of being pregnant.
i felt like we got a lot done this weekend, and i'm starting to feel like my nesting needs are being met.

help

i wasn't going to post this...but then i thought, what better way to get help and opinions than through blogging? this is a very serious situation, and as a family we aren't sure what to do...so any help or advise would be greatly appreciated.
we have a family member who is extreamly anorexic. i don't mean just skips a few meals here and there....or is a little on the skinny side....she is 20 years old, 5'6", and only weighs 80 lbs! we have been told that if she doesn't get some serious help she won't make it till christmas. she is seeing a psychologist, and her parents have been looking into a clinic in boise to get her into, but she doesn't want to go. and because she is over 18 it doesn't sound like anyone can make her get help that she doesn't want. i'm not sure if she thinks that she doesn't have a problem, or if this is a slow suicide, or like so many people that i have heard with this problem in the past, if she just likes the "control" that she has over this aspect in her life.
i guess what i'm asking from all of you is any information you may have on some good clinics, or maybe a good specialist, or if you have known anyone with this problem and what helped them. we don't need anymore information on anorexia and the signs and effects...we already know all of that. just some helpful info would be so great.
thank you

amazing

my grandpa is 100% better today! it's been a really weird couple of days, but when he woke up this morning he was totally normal. he hadn't slept at all for 3 days, but when i went to see him last night he was finally sleeping and slept through the night, and when he woke up this morning he didn't remember anything about being in the hospital, or any of us being there for him, but he knows who everyone is...and he's finally acting normal! i'm so happy! it looks like grandpa will be around for a while still!!!!

some sad news

i know that most of you don't know my grandpa, but those of you who do know that you are lucky. my grandpa is such an amazing man, and everyone who knows him loves him. he has always been a super healthy guy, and up until about 6 months ago had very little pain anywhere and still had great eyesight.
well recently his eyesight started to go and he had to stop driving bus (one of his favorite jobs), and then his back started to hurt him. just last week (wednesday) he had to have surgery on his back to relieve some of the pain, and after the surgery he was doing great. he was talking to us and was feeling pretty good. the next day when josh and i went to see him he was acting....weird. he couldn't remember who we were (he kept calling me shelley...thats my mom), and he kept saying things that didn't make sence. we thought that it was just the drugs that they had him on, and we just laughed. he fell the next day at the hospital...but the doctors said that he was ok to go home (which i thought was weird given the state he was in the night before).
i got a call from my mom yesterday saying that they had taken him back up to the hospital because something was wrong....he wasn't on very heavy drugs anymore and he's still been acting "loopy". he won't stay in bed....and he's seeing things. they have done a few mri's and cat scans and other tests and so far they can't find anything wrong. the best they can think is that he's maybe had a mini stroke or something....but you would think that would show up on tests!
i just keep thinking that wednesday night might have been the last time that i got to see my grandpa acting normal. it just makes me so sad to think that he might have to be in a home soon....and that his time might be coming to leave us. this is the part of life that is so unfair.

Our "Old Fashion" Christmas

Christmas has come and gone...and I have to say that I always feel a little let down when it's all over. It just feels like we work so hard to make it a great Christmas and to get everything ready, and then in a blink of an eye it's gone! We did have a fantastic Christmas though.

Everything started out a little frusterating...I think it was the 23rd that we got like 5-8 inches of snow..Josh was supposed to come in and take me to lunch but he couldn't get out of the driveway! The news said that it was supposed to snow most of the week so we thought for sure that we were gonna be stranded inside...but we had the brilliant idea that since my brother and his wife were heading to Canada (where she is from) that maybe we could borrow their truck....and my brother being the amazing guy that he is said that we could take it as long as we treated it with very loving care (anyone who knows him knows what he means and shouldn't be suprised). It's a good thing that we were able to use the truck cuz our little cars weren't gonna make it anywhere.

Christmas Eve Josh and I decided to spend the night just the two of us at our place. I had to work part of that day so Josh went out and bought the fixings for an AMAZING Christmas Eve dinner. He likes to cook...so he told me that he was going to prepare dinner (I wasn't going to argue). I got home from work and we went out to get some stocking stuffers for the dogs (yes we are "that" couple). We had fun walking around PetSmart looking for things. Then we came home and it was time to start the food. Josh had gotten some recipes off the internet and did the whole meal by himself. He made a WONDERFUL filet mignon with a red wine and basalmic vinigerette glaze (the best steak I have ever had), and red spuds with lemon and something else, and brocolii. He also bought some sparkling cider to top it off. We lit some candles and ate like kings (pictures to come). After clean up we got into our sweats (no new jammies this year) and watched "The Holiday". Then it was off to bed.

Christmas morning we didn't get up till about 8ish. We had to get eachothers stocking ready, so we took turns out in the living room putting stuff out. We are kinda weird about the stocking thing, after we get the stocking put together we put it on the couch and cover it with a blanket so that we don't ruin the suprise. Haha. We opened gifts till about 9:30 and Josh spoiled me! It was kind of funny though....we got eachother Nintendo DS Lites (yes we are gamer nerds)...and we had no idea....haha...it was kinda funny. He also bought an outfit for me and did a great job (he always picks out the cutest things). At 12 it was off to Joshs moms house for a great lunch (it was a good thing we had Dustins truck because there were drifts out there that were bigger than my jetta). We hung out there till about 3 just talking and playing with Mya...and then it was off to my parents house. My family spoiled us with all kinds of gifts (clothes, fancy alarm clock, paula dean cookware, a hommeade blanket, wireless keyboard and mouse), and made a yummy dinner. The snow started falling again at about 6 so we headed home. We spent the rest of the night together playing with our new Christmas stuff.

The rest of the weekend was spent with friends and family, watching the Jazz, eating way too much, and sleeping in till at least 10 every day. I love the Holidays. I hope everyone had a fantastic Christmas, and I hope we are all ready for the new year.

Yes, We Will Have A White Christmas

It snowed all weekend! I woke up this morning and was up to my calves in snow as I walked out to my car, and when I got to my car it was buried!!! I hate the snow....but I have to admit that everything looked so pretty this morning all covered in snow...and it really helps me get in the holiday mood, and it sounds like it will be snowing all week....so yes....it will be a white Christmas.

We had a fun weekend. My family had a Christmas party on saturday, so we went up to my moms house and had a fantastic dinner, watched the Jazz game by the fire, played a wicked candy game (it's a tradition in my family...and since my grandma works at mom's candy kitchen the stakes were high), played our "hometown band" duet (mom and I have an awesome duet on the piano and everyone else joins in on other random instruments that my mom has collected over the years), and opened gifts from Dustin and Bethany since they will be in Canada for Christmas. It's always fun when all my brothers can be home...we always have a blast together. Then on Sunday we had a party over and Kim and Robbs with Kevin and Grandma Bernadine. We all brought junk food over so we just snaked all night, opened gifts from Kevin and Grandma, and watched the classic "Christmas Vacation".
It has to be one of my favorite Christmas movies. Mya didn't seem to wanna be part of the party too much...but I did get to spend a little time holding her...she is such a sweetheart. It was a fun weekend and I can't believe that Christmas is this week! I hope everyone is ready!

Back to Work

After 3 Thanksgiving dinners (we are all turkeyd out and still have leftovers), a second showing of Twilight (which I liked even more than the first time), lots of sleeping in, playing with Mya, a few Jazz games, and my cousins farewell we are back to work! We had a great, long weekend, and loved hanging out with our families. Now we are in full swing Christmas mode and it makes me just a little sick that it's only 25 days away! It seems to come faster every year. I hope everyone had a great weekend and had some time to think about what you are really thankful for. My list includes, but is not limited to:
My Husband (we have our differences, but I love him, and appreciate him so much!)
Both of our families
Food to eat
A roof over our heads
Jobs (because so many people don't have one)
Freedom
Music (to get me out of my grinchy mood and into the holiday spirit)
Friends
Hugs
Kisses
Heat (I hate having a cold home)

Those are just a few of the things in my life that I'm thankful for. I hope everyone had a great weekend and Have a awesome holiday season.

Mya Layne Crockett

I have a neice! I've never been an aunt before and I'm so excited. Little Mya was born yesterday at 3:05 pm, weighed a whopping 8 lbs. 11 oz., and was 22 in. long! Shes's a big girl and super sweet. She has Kims lips and ears...and Robbs nose (no pictures yet...sorry). Kim was a trooper through the whole process. Her water broke at 6 am and by about 2:30 the doctors knew that Mya was going to need a little more help getting here (she just didn't wanna come out...do you blame her?) so they took Kim in for a c-section. We were all nearvous (I'm sure Kim and Robb were a wreck), but Kim pulled through (she's amazing).

We got up to the hospital just after Kim came out of recovery and she was so upbeat and cheerful even though she was in a lot of pain. They had Mya in for some tests so we only got to see her for a few minuets (we didn't even get to hold her), but talk about a cute little lady. Congrats Kim and Robb!

Just Filling You In

I'm going to be an aunt today! Woo hoo! Kim was 8 days late yesterday so they decided to admit her into the hospital and get her cervix thinned out and then they were planning on starting her first thing this morning. We got word a few hours ago that her water had broke on it's own this morning at about 6, so she is well on her way...and we should be welcoming a new baby into the family sometime this afternoon. I'm sure I'll have pictures of little Miss Mya Lane Crockett later tonight.

Happy Birthday to Me!

So yesterday was my birthday (24)...and it was a great day! My work gives us our bdays off (paid), so the day started with me sleeping in until about 9:30 (it was grand). After I got up I lounged around the house for an hour and then decided to get ready for the day...I went into the bathroom and found a sweet card and a super dark chocolate bar from my wonderful hubby. I drove to Rexburg to have lunch with Holly and Carson (who I hadn't seen in 2 months), and we had so much fun chatting...I even got to hold sweet little Carson for a bit. I love that Holly and I can jump right into our friendship wherever we left off the last time that our lives got too crazy to keep in touch as much as we would like. Holly was so sweet...she bought my lunch and got me a yankee candle (thanks Balls! I love you!). I talked to Josh after lunch and he said that he was getting off work so I should come home...I met up with him there and he said he was taking me to the mall for a little shopping spree! We went to the mall and he was very patient as I tried on pair after pair of jeans. We spent like 45 min in the buckle and he didn't act bored at all! He bought me two pairs of jeans (which I love). After the mall we met up with my family and Kevin at Iggys and had dinner. Then my family came over to our place and we had cake...chatted...and opened gifts. I also got a little package from Seth in the mail! Kristi and Riley sent a card (that Seth picked out on his own and signed) and pictures of Seth! It was so fun to see how much he has grown up and how happy he is! I love them!

It was a great day...and I have the best family, friends, and husband in the world. Thanks everyone!!! I love you!

The Waiting Game

We had a lot of fun over the weekend. We set Amanda up on a blind date with a friend of mine, and we went with them just so it wasn't too awkward...and it was a lot of fun. We went golfing on Saturday with Robb and Brandon (the husband of a gal that Robb and I work with) and then went out to dinner with Robb and Kim (still pregnant) and Brandon and Val. Then Josh and I went home and waited until midnight so that we could go get the new Guitar Hero! That's right...we went to Wal Mart at midnight and bought the new game, and then brought it home and played it until 3 in the morning! Yes we're nerds and yes we're aware. But it was so much fun! Sunday we went golfing again and then had Kim and Robb over for dinner...we decided that we needed to grill at least one more time while the weather will still allow it. So they came over for dinner and we played guitar hero again. haha.

Yesterday was my father-in-laws birthday so we went to the Olive Garden for dinner with him, and now we are just waiting on little Mya (Kim and Robbs baby) to get here. I can't wait to be an aunt! It's not as great as being a new mom....but I think it might be the next best thing. It could be any day now, so we are just waiting and hoping that everything will go great for them.

Oh! Today the "furniture doctor" is coming to look at our destroyed couch to see if there is any hope...let pray that he can fix it.

Last Weekend Of September

I can't beleive that we are already at the end of September! Time flys. We did a lot this weekend, but we had a good time...for the most part. On friday night I sprained my ankle as we were going to meet my parents for dinner. I was walking out to the car and stepped off the curb and just went down. I fell in the middle of the road...and Josh laughed! I'll have to admit that it prolly did look pretty funny, but I was in pain...and he shouldn't have laughed! But he helped me up and we decided to still go to dinner. So we met up with my parents at Texas Roadhouse, and by the time we got home my ankel was swollen and so I had to ice it and elevate it.

Saturday was Kim's baby shower, so I wrapped up my foot and tried to walk normal for the afternoon. The shower was nice...and Kim got a lot of nice things. Saturday night we had a birthday dinner for Robb over at Stockmans. The food was good...but get this! They charged us each 8:50 for a tip, and another 8.50 just to split the check (we won't be going there again)!

Sunday we decided to have Sam and Nicole over to watch the Sherwin Williams car in NASCAR (Sam works for Sherwin too). So we grilled burgers and cheered for our car who ended up taking 3rd place...we aren't NASCAR fans at all...but it was fun. Then we decided to make the most of the beautiful weather and go golfing! We met up with Robb and played the back 9 at Sand Creek. It was a really nice day..and my ankel felt pretty good until the last few holes. I still don't play great, but I think I'm getting better.
Josh T-ing up
Me walking away from one of my many crappy shots
Robb taking a swing
I had to get a shot of our golf kart with our bags on it...I thought it was cute

And now for the countdown...we are going to Vegas in 10 days and I can't wait! We have a really nice condo to stay in for free (it's my bosses condo, he's so great to let us stay there). And we are gonna go see Chicago and Phantom! can't wait!

Super Fun Weekend

We went white water rafting this weekend and it was a blast! We met at my parents house at about 10 and headed up to Jackson. We stopped along the way and had a great picnic and then headed up to get on the Hoback. We had a really fun guide, and call me crazy, but I had no idea that we would be the ones doing the rowing! I guess I kinda figured that we would just sit and enjoy the ride. But when we go there we all got paddles and we hopped in the raft and we got a short lesson on rowing and then we were off. We had pretty steady rapids most of the time, and there were some parts that I was sure I was going to fly right off the raft and into the river. I managed to hang on tho. There were a few calm spots and we were allowed to jump off the raft and swim around. Bryan and shaun did most of the swiming..they even did back flips off of the raft. The float was about an hour and 45 min, and it was a blast, I wanna make it a yearly tradition! We missed Dustin and Beth and hopefully they can come next time.
